Car Insurance Nissan (Car Insurance). EGR Flow Sensor on 2005 Dodge Stratus?EGR Flow Sensor on 2005 Dodge Stratus? I have a 2005 Dodge Stratus SXT 2.7L V6. (This car has been babied and runs very good). The other day the engine light came on. I used the code reader and it came up with "P0406 - EGR Flow Sensor A Circuit High Input". What part(s) do I need to solve this problem? I read that I need a new EGR valve, does the EGR sensor come with the valve assembly? And how do I replace the valve assembly in this car? before you buy a new egr valve try removing the wiring harness that goes to the sensor and clean the connection off real good for it,if you haven't noticed no difference in the way it runs then it might just be a bad connection, the egr doesn't come with a new sensor though, their sold separately at most parts stores, good luck on it. Nissan . How to Install a WRX After-Market ExhaustFor turbocharged cars, upgrading your exhaust should be the first modification done if you're looking to increase performance. Not only will you free up extra horsepower and give yourself a good starting point for an engine tune in the future, but you will also get a nicer looking exhaust with a sportier exhaust note. Installing a new exhaust can be done in under two hours and it is easier than most think. Just take the necessary safety precautions when working under a car and convince a buddy to help out and you should have no problems doing it yourself. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Ratchet set WD-40 Jack Jack stands Step by Step : 1 Park your WRX on a flat surface. Shift the car into reverse, and engage the emergency brake. Place wheel chocks in front of the front wheels since you will be raising the rear of the vehicle. Place a jack under a rear jack point outlined in your owner's manual and slowly raise one side of the vehicle. Place a jack stand under the car's frame when it is a sufficient height to get under the car. Lower the jack until the car is resting on the jack stand. Repeat on other side. You may raise the front of the vehicle as well in a similar fashion but many only need to raise the rear to gain access to the exhaust. 2 Spray all bolts and exhaust hangers with WD-40 and let sit for 5-10 minutes. This will make removing the old exhaust much easier. 3 Remove the bolts holding the muffler assembly to the rest of the exhaust using a ratchet. Once the bolts are removed, slide the hangers for the muffler from the rubber mounts. This is where having someone to helps comes in handy. The muffler will drop off at this point and having another set of hands to hold it is very helpful. 4 Remove the bolts from behind the catalytic convertor to remove the remaining section of original piping from the rubber mount. Again be cafeful here as the whole pipe will come off at this point. You are now read to install your new exhaust. 5 Install the new exhaust in the opposite order that you removed the factory exhaust. Bolt up the new piping to the flange behind the catalytic convertor. Do not fully tighten the bolts until you have finished installing the entire exhaust. Push the exhaust hanger into the rubber mount. 6 Bolt the new muffler onto the exhaust pipe you just installed. Push the hangers into the rubber mounts. At this point you will want to inspect your entire installation. Ensure there is proper clearance from the exhaust to your chassis, wires, and bumper. If everything looks to be in order, tighten all of the bolts according to the specs provided by the exhaust manufacturer and you're done. Tips & Warnings Ensure that when you select your exhaust that it is for your specific year and body style WRX. Listen to sound clips of exhausts on youtube.com to get a good idea of which sounds good to you before you buy. Never work under a car that is held up by a jack. If the jack fails severe injury or even death can occur. Always use jack stands and take the necessary precautions.
Nissan . How to Install a Mustang H PipeThe Ford Mustang was designed as an American muscle car, one that is meant to be raced. The H-pipe exhaust can help the driver of a Mustang enhance the horsepower of the car. H-pipes provide a combination of perfect air-flow and performance to deliver some extra power to the vehicle. Difficulty:Moderately Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Floor jack Jack stands Pipe cutting tool Sockets Wrench Ratchet WD-40 H-pipe Tailpipe O2 sensors and extensions Exhaust clamps Gloves Safety glassesOut with the Old Step by Step : 1 Lift the back of the vehicle with floor jacks and place it onto jack stands. 2 Cut the tailpipe right behind the muffler and pull out the tailpipes. The tailpipe will not come out in one piece. It might have to be swung around before you can remove it. 3 Remove the bolts connecting the muffler to the H-pipe and remove the muffler from the rubber hangers. Spray the hangers with WD-40 if they appear to be sticky, as this could help make the job a little smoother. 4 Remove the bolts that connect the old H-pipe and headers. Using a U-joint on your socket can be helpful, as the area is difficult to maneuver in. 5 Slide the H-pipe from the hangers. Use WD-40 when needed. Remove the O2 sensors from the old pipes. In with the New Step by Step : 1 Slide the new H-pipe into the rubber hangers. If needed you can replace the rubber hangers, but in most cases these will be reusable. Be sure to line up the pipes with the header flanges and studs. 2 Bolt the new H-pipe loosely into place and hold the H-pipe in place with a floor jack while installing the rest of the exhaust system. 3 Install the pipes that attach to the H-pipe. 4 Slide the muffler into the hangers and use exhaust clamps to hold it into place. 5 Slide the new tailpipe into the rubber hangers and tighten all the bolts in the exhaust system once everything is lined up correctly. Install the new O2 sensors and plug in the O2 extensions. Tips & Warnings Always wear safety glasses and gloves when performing automotive repairs. Is the needle pointing to the correct figure listed under "Dwell" on your specifications sheet? It can be plus or minus 2 degrees. For example, if your spec sheet shows a dwell of 38 degrees, a dwell anywhere between 36 and 40 degrees is fine. If the dwell is further off than that, you have to readjust your points, as explained in the next step. 5. Depending on whether you have a distributor with an external adjusting window (refer to Figure 12-39) or the kind of points that adjust with an adjusting screw or slot (Figures 12-37 and 12-38, respectively), do the following: • If you have a distributor with an external adjusting window: Let the engine idle and keep the dwell meter in place. Then open the little window in the side of the distributor cap (it slides up) and turn the adjustment screw with the hex wrench until the needle on the dwell meter points to the correct number. . Chapter 12: Keeping Your Electrical System in Tune O C t? • If you have the kind of points that adjust with an adjusting screw or slot: Shut off the engine, remove the distributor cap again, and readjust your points to the correct gap with your flat feeler gauge by following the instructions in the section "Adjust your points." When you've got it right, put everything back and check the dwell again. Sorry, but that's life.... If the dwell is too low, the gap is too large, and vice versa. When the dwell is correct, it's time to check your timing, which is the topic of the next section. If you have a tach/dwell meter (a dwell meter with a tachometer built in), there's one additional thing that you can do. Nissan . How does road surface technology make the roads safer?

Some tach/dwell meters have both Hi and Lo readings; if yours does, you can choose either line. Start your engine and let the car idle. After it warms up a bit, check the tachometer to see at how many rpm (revolutions per minute) the car is idling. Try to keep the tach/dwell hooked up while you check your timing, but if it's too difficult to clip both the tach/dwell and the timing light to the battery terminals, disconnect the tach/dwell and keep it handy. I've heard of a variety of ways to check your timing without one, but none of them has proven very accurate, and many turned out to be impossible. So beg or borrow one if you don't want to buy one. The section "What You Need to Do the Work in This Chapter" tells you all about them. <\? ^. As a last resort, if you have no timing light, you can drive down to your local "~~~ service facility after you've done your tune-up and ask them to check your timing for you, but be prepared to deal with the consequences. Instead of using a timing light, the technicians will probably hook your car to an electronic diagnostic machine in order to give you an answer, so be sure to ask beforehand if there's a charge for this service. If there is, ask whether the charge covers adjusting the timing for you, if it's necessary. If they're willing to check your timing for nothing and your timing is off, they'll probably charge to adjust it for you. And if you tell them that you want to fix it yourself, you'd better plan to go somewhere else for a timing check when you're through. Once you've exhausted all the garages in the neighborhood, you'll probably have to go out and borrow or buy a timing light anyway! To check your timing, follow these steps: 1.
